The New Frog V4

Il Frog V4 by Farins Frames è finalmente arrivato ed è tutto nuovo, sviluppato da zero con in mente le richieste dei piloti per una ancor maggiore versatilità, robustezza, semplicità di montaggio e manutenzione rispetto al già ampiamente testato V3, mantenendone però intatto il DNA.

La prima e più evidente innovazione riguarda il comparto video con l'adozione di un "connected mount" che ospita sia i più diffusi modelli di camera HD (gopro etc), che la camera FPV: questa soluzione permette di variare contemporaneamente l'angolo di entrambe le camere solo svitando 2 viti degli standoff, adattando quindi la ripresa allo stile di volo del pilota, dai 15° per riprese cinematiche fino ai 40° per quelle sportive.

Il cam mount stesso è proposto in due versioni, Cinematic e Freestyle: il primo è pensato per contenere il peso e avere rapido accesso alla camera mentre il secondo, più avvolgente e protettivo, per prevenire danni in caso di crash.

I fan delle camere FPV con DVR integrato, come la Foxeer Mix2, non resteranno delusi: il V4 è dotato di una piastrina posizionata subito sotto la camera FPV per l'installazione dell'unità DVR permettendo una migliore distribuzione dei pesi e un assemblaggio più razionale.

Fedele al concetto di versatilità, il V4 supporta ovviamente i sistemi FPV analogici standard ma nativamente  anche quelli digitali DJI Digital FPV/Caddx Vista ed è stata poi posta molta attenzione all'organizzazione dello spazio interno: 24 mm di altezza; supporto sia per stack 20x20 che 30x30 e soprattutto diverse opzioni per il montaggio: gli stack 20x20 possono essere montati sia al centro che in coda mentre i 30x30, solo centrali, possono essere regolati su tre posizioni in modo da adattare lo spazio interno e il bilanciamento a seconda della propria configurazione.

Per rendere il volo più "smooth" ed eliminare il fenomeno del prop-washing, la posizione della batteria è stata studiata per rimanere il più possibile in linea con motori e stack e la stessa può essere montata sia in senso longitudinale che trasversale.

Discorso a parte meritano i camplates, più spessi e completamente ridisegnati in modo da attutire meglio gli urti e redistribuirne l'energia cinetica lungo tutta la struttura. Anche il sistema di fissaggio al corpo centrale del telaio è stato rivisto in modo da rendere l'assemblaggio più semplice e robusto, con l'eliminazione di 2 bullonerie rispetto alle 4 del V3, sostituite da due agganci laterali.

Braccetti da 5 mm, cam plates e top plate da 2,5 mm completano il quadro di questo nuovo, splendido frame Freestyle/Cinematic e che prestissimo vedrà anche la sua versione da Long Range con braccetti da 7 pollici.

The Frog V4 by Farins Frames finally came and it's totally new, developed from the ground up for pilots demands for more versatility, more strength and easy assembly and maintenance compared to the well known and tested Frog V3, keeping intact the DNA!

The first and most obvious change has been made on the cameras arrangement, by the adoption of a "connected cam mount", capable of accomodating both the FPV camera and the HD camera (like GoPro, etc.) in an integrated solution that allows to vary the angle of entire cams assembly by just two screws. This means that the pilot can adjust the angle the way that most fits his needs and shooting demands from 15 deg. for cinematic shots to 40 deg for sport/racing shots.

The cam mount itself is offered in two configurations: "Cinematic" lighter and easy-to-access camera controls, and "Freestyle", more protective and shock resistant.

Even lovers of FPV/DVR cameras won't be disappointed by this frame: the kit includes a little plate, to be placed just under the FPV camera, to locate the DVR unit allowing a more rational and convenient weight distribution.

Designed around the idea of versatility, the Frog V4 supports almost any analog FPV system and, natively, DJI/Caddx Vista digital video systems. Great care for the internal room too: 24mm of internal height, both 20x20 and 30x30 stacks support and several mounting options: 20x20 stacks can be center and tail installed while the 30x30 stack, central only, has 3 fine position adjustments in order to better fit any configuration while keeping a well centered CG.

Any pilot knows how the battery position affects flight perfomances: the Frog V4 features a longitudinal/transversal battery position option, both optimized to be aligned with the FC and motors for a smoother, prop wash-free flight attitude.

A special word is deserved by the brand new cam-plate design, now thicker and totally redesigned in order to better absorb shocks and to spread the cinetic energy by the whole structure, involving their fastening to the rest of the frame: two of four screws and bolts we saw on the V3 has been replaced by two fixing points for a more convenient and strong assembly.

Last but not least: from V3's 2 to 2.5 mm thick carbon top and cam plates and from 4 to 5 mm thick arms as standard complete the picture of this beautiful Freestyle/Cinematic frame that will soon face its 7in. Long Range version.
